Tumbatu Coral Reef Swimming & Snorkel with Lunch

1 Day

Overview

Tumbatu island is located off the northwestern coast of Zanzibar. It is a wedge-shaped island ringed by a reef, is relatively secluded from the rest of Zanzibar, despite its southern shore being only 2 km from the main island.

Snorkeling on Tumbatu Island is regarded as a safe, shallow, and accessible spot for non-divers, with colorful marine life and exceptional visibility (10-30 feet). All three dive sites—Shetani, Popabawa, and Mwana have stunning coral reefs with a wide range of soft and hard corals. Meet us as your guide in Nungwi for this snorkeling excursion, which allows guests to experience Zanzibar’s renowned dive spots without the requirement of a scuba diving qualification.

Explore the shallow corals and search for unique species such as turtles, leaf fish, octopuses, scorpionfish, moray eels, and nudibranchs. While entry to the island is strictly controlled by tribal elders, you can take a boat tour to see these common sights on Tumbatu Island. Participants in the tour will have the opportunity to explore the vibrant underwater world of Tumbatu Island through guided snorkeling sessions. The coral reefs are home to a diverse range of marine species, including colorful fish, sea turtles, and other fascinating creatures. Snorkelers can witness the beauty of the coral formations up close and observe the marine life in its natural habitat.
