Spice Farm Tour and Cooking Class

Your day begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up by our friendly driver from your hotel in Zanzibar. You will travel to a local spice farm, where your guide will warmly welcome you and introduce you to the rich spice heritage of the island. You will enjoy a guided walking tour through the farm, where you will see, smell, and taste fresh spices such as cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, pepper, chili, cumin, tamarind, and ylang-ylang. You will also taste freshly picked tropical fruits including mangoes, pineapples, bananas, papaya, passion fruit, avocado, and local grapefruits.

During the tour, local farmers will explain where each spice comes from and how it is used in Zanzibar cooking and traditional medicine. You will learn how spices are grown, harvested, and prepared using simple methods passed down through generations. The experience is interactive, fun, and perfect for all ages.

After the spice walk, you will harvest some vegetables and spices together with your local chef and head to the cooking area. Using traditional cooking techniques and old-style cooking tools, you will prepare a delicious Swahili meal step by step. Your chef will guide you through the process and explain each ingredient as you cook. Once the meal is ready, you will sit down and enjoy the food you prepared, sharing a special moment of Zanzibar culture and hospitality.

At the end of the experience, our driver will take you back to your hotel for a smooth and relaxing hotel drop-off, completing a day full of flavors, learning, and authentic Zanzibar traditions.
